How to produce AMR ringtones 3/3

In this final article on the series of AMR production tutorials I’ll explain how to load ringtones onto your phone. There are various methods which will be discussed below.

Data Cable

Loading ringtones onto your phone with a data cable is usually quite easy. If you don’t have a data cable, check out the cell phone accessories page for some suppliers (or click the image on the right). Some phones allow direct access and when you plug it into your PC it will come up as a flash drive. This makes it extremely easy to load ringtones onto your phone. All you have to do is make sure you load it into the correct directory on your phone, else it won’t be seen as a ringtone. Alternatively you can use your connection software (Nokia PC Suite for your Nokia) to connect to your phone. It’s great! It will detect your phone immediately and you’ll be able to load ringers onto your phone without any trouble at all. Software like BitPim also works well with supported cellphones. In some cases however your service provider will no allow you to load ringers onto your phone (as they want to charge you for putting ringtones on your phone), so you’ll have to unlock your phone. Tread carefully if you want to go this route though!!

WAP

Loading ringers onto your phone via WAP is also easy. Your cellphone will need to be WAP enabled and you’ll need to either have access to your own website hosting space or use a service like WAP UPLOAD. After loading the ringtone on the web, all you have to do is browse to the location and then download the ringers onto your cellphone. Take note that larger ringers will take some time to load, so keep this option for smaller ringtones.

Bluetooth

IF your cellphone is bluetooth enabled you could easily load ringtones with a bluetooth enabled laptop or bluetooth dongle on your PC. Take note that bluetooth is obviously slower than a direct cable connection, which is still best.
