I’ve decided to write some more about free ringtones. When you’re looking for free ringtones on the net there are a few things you have to be aware of:
The Ringtone Subscription Service
Some providers promise your a free ringtone, but you end up being subscribed to a $5 a week (or even £5s!) subscription service where you’re allowed to download tones at a reduced price. Be sure you read the terms well.
Free ringtones but Premium Rates on Ringtone Request
Other sites provide free ringtones, but you end up paying a premium rate amount ($1 – $10) on submission of the code to the provider via text (sms). READ THE TERMS!
Free Ringtones end up being RTTTL tones
Many providers offer free ringtones which end up being RTTTL tones. Now if you’re not worried about this monophonic keypress tones, go right ahead and copy/download them. You will still be required to enter it into your phone or use software that can upload the dump to your phone.
